CHARITIES

SpreadDLove

SpreadDLove is a movement.  It is a lifestyle.  It is a cause created in honor of Don Liem, to continue his remarkable legacy of kindness, philanthropy, and dedication to making this world a better place.

Adopt a Family was an annual tradition that he looked forward to year after year with his family.  He would work through local non-profit organizations to identify families in need and together as a family, they would organize the shopping, wrapping and delivery of gifts. In his full Santa Clause costume and all, handing out candy canes and singing Jingle Bells as they delivered Christmas to families in need. Our hope is that our Grandfather's spirit of giving will live on through generations of our family and yours to.

This is how Miracle of 71st Street was born.   We want to give families an opportunity to not only celebrate the holiday season with a fun family tradition, but also provide an opportunity to share the true meaning of Christmas with their children.

We hope you will join us as we SpreadDLove this holiday season! We appreciate all of your support and we are so excited to watch this movement grow and see the impact we can make on the lives of children in our community.

C4 Foundation

Mission

The mission of the C4 Foundation and fortitude-building programs at the C4 Ranchis to significantly reduce stress, strengthen family connections and nurture feelings of optimism and gratitude.

About C4 Foundation

The C4 Foundation was created to provide resources and support available nowhere else to active-duty Navy SEALs and their families. Dedicated to the memory and values of Charles Keating IV, the C4 Foundation provides unique neuroscience-based programs recognized by Naval Special Warfare for managing the stressors that our elite warriors and their families experience.

About Charlie

Special Warfare Operator Chief Charles Humphrey Keating, IV, intimately known as C4, grew up in Phoenix, Arizona, and Coronado, California. He was the eldest of 5 siblings and a star track athlete at Arcadia High School in Phoenix, AZ, graduating in the Class of 2004. He then attended Indiana University for 2 years excelling on the cross-country and track and field teams before joining the United States Navy.

Charlie lived a life filled with an adventurous spirit and was kind to all lucky enough to meet him, yet he fought with expert ferocity when evil presented itself. He was a natural leader who loved his country and truly believed that he was placed on Earth to oppose the evil in this world.

His unforgettable signature Aloha smile greeted everyone. He was a friend to all. He was an avid international traveler and did so with undaunted vigor; he lived his life to the fullest, never taking anything for granted. He found goodness in all people and exploited their strengths, a genuine trait that organically drew people close to him.

In February 2007, his competitive energy inspired him to join the SEAL teams. Charlie joined the US Navy and graduated from BUDS Class 266 in June 2008. After graduation, he reported to SEAL Team THREE in Coronado, where he qualified as Naval Special Warfare lead breacher and Naval Special Warfare sniper. While at SEAL Team THREE, he completed two deployments supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom and one supporting Operation Enduring Freedom – Afghanistan. In July 2013, he transferred to Naval Special Warfare Training Detachment One as the Sniper/Reconnaissance Cell Leading Petty Officer, where he was responsible for the training and sustainment of all West Coast-based NSW snipers. In February 2015, he checked into SEAL Team ONE as a Platoon Leading Petty Officer. He deployed as the Senior Enlisted Advisor at a remote outstation, supporting Operation Inherent Resolve.

On the morning of May 3, 2016, Charlie’s quick reaction force (QRF) team received reports that over 300 ISIS enemy fighters, reinforced by armored and explosive-laden vehicles, were advancing on the host nation’s defense forces, and surrounding civilian population. If not for the actions of Charlie’s team, this attack would have been catastrophic. Charlie Keating fought fearlessly and made the ultimate sacrifice defending his brothers. Responding without hesitation, Charlie’s team valiantly held the advancing enemy at bay for more than four hours, enabling a successful Peshmerga partner force to counterattack. Keating posthumously advanced to Chief Petty Officer, and his personal awards include the Navy Cross, Bronze Star Medal with Valor, Purple Heart, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Operation Inherent Resolve Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, NATO Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Rifle Expert, and Pistol Expert. He will never be forgotten.

Charlie was killed in action, the true courageous warrior he was, with a loaded gun in his hands and boots on his feet.
